Elbert County commissioners and staff are scheduled to discuss possible land-use rules for data centers and similar technology operations on Oct. 26, 2026, after the county moved the initial discussion from Aug. 10.

The county’s updated work-session agenda sets the meeting for 1 p.m. in the Board of County Commissioners Meeting Room. It describes the session as an initial discussion and says no decisions will be made and no public comment will be heard.

The discussion comes as the county works on broader land-use policy. Its Comprehensive Plan materials describe work involving land use, infrastructure, housing and environmental preservation.

The county’s public-meetings guidance says work sessions are open to the public and livestreamed. It says public comment is available when a topic later comes before a Commission Meeting or Land Use Meeting. Residents can watch future agendas for a formal proposal and a chance to comment.
