Elizabeth residents must follow the town’s summer watering limits through Dec. 31 after the Board of Trustees voted 5–1 on Oct. 13 to reinstate them. The restrictions had expired Sept. 30, and the board’s meeting recording captures the vote and discussion.

Residents may water only every other day on the day assigned to their address, before 8 a.m. or after 8 p.m. Watering is not allowed on Sundays. The town’s 2026 watering schedule assigns days based on the last digit of a street address and shows the applicable calendar.

Public Works Director Travis Scurlock recommended the extension, citing severe drought along the Front Range, moderate drought in the mountains and regional weather forecasts. He also pointed to prolonged warm temperatures, including an 80-degree day before the meeting.

Scurlock said staff could evaluate the restrictions during the extension if appropriate, but the board set no reassessment date.
