La Junta City Manager Michael Hart will conduct a citywide workforce analysis internally after the estimated cost of hiring an outside consultant rose from nearly $30,000 to between $50,000 and $70,000, according to the La Junta City Council’s Sept. 8 meeting minutes.
The analysis is intended to determine whether the city has the right number of employees in each department. During Hart’s semiannual review, the council reached a consensus that he should do the work himself rather than hire a third-party consultant, and Hart agreed.
The minutes do not set a deadline for completing the analysis or presenting its findings. They describe the decision as a consensus rather than recording a formal motion or vote specifically approving the internal analysis.
