Logan County commissioners approved an agreement Oct. 20 allowing the county detention facility to house adult inmates under the jurisdiction of the Cheyenne County, Nebraska, sheriff, during their meeting.

A Cheyenne County sheriff’s representative described the inmates covered by the agreement as people arrested or convicted in the county who are awaiting transport, court proceedings or release, or serving sentences. The representative said Cheyenne County’s jail is small, the county has sent some inmates to North Platte or Grand Island, and it would handle transportation.

The meeting discussion did not state the agreement’s payment, duration or limit on inmate placements.
