A Logan County commissioner said 15 proposed Sentinel missile sites near Peetz are still planned to move to Wyoming, citing a meeting with project lead contractor Northrop Grumman. The commissioner said the sites’ proximity to wind-tower production was the reason for the proposed move, according to a county work-session recording.
The commissioner described the relocation as still in planning, not as a completed move or final decision. The broader Sentinel construction effort could begin within the next couple of years, likely in Wyoming, the commissioner said, but gave no schedule for the 15 sites. The commissioner also said residents might receive another update at a Peetz meeting after the first of the year.
The Air Force’s 2023 Record of Decision selected a broad course of action and authorized numerous Sentinel construction activities. The Air Force’s supplemental environmental review page describes review of changes since that decision. The public Air Force materials reviewed do not establish a final, site-specific decision on the reported move.
