The Elbert County Planning Commission voted 5–0 on Sept. 22 to recommend approval of a proposed 110-foot telecommunications tower at Silver Buckle Ranch, subject to removing the proposed windmill and meeting fire and life-safety requirements before construction permits are issued, the commission’s action minutes show.

The tower is proposed for 44502 County Road 29, on an agricultural parcel near Elizabeth. Anthemnet would own the unmanned facility, and Q3 Consulting is listed as the applicant. The project would occupy a roughly 2,500-square-foot leased area within the 74-acre parcel. County planning staff say the tower is intended to expand wireless coverage and support Emergency 911 service, according to the staff report.

The commission’s motion also included conditions recommended by staff. Fire and life-safety requirements must be satisfied before construction permits, as determined by the appropriate reviewing authorities, including the Rattlesnake Fire District.

The recommendation is not final approval. The Board of County Commissioners is scheduled to hold a hearing and decide on the application Oct. 14, the county’s development-projects report says.
