Sterling City Council is scheduled to consider a resolution Oct. 27 authorizing up to $45,000 from the city’s Hotel Tax Fund for holiday decorations on West Main Street. The proposal calls for lighted garland wraps on streetlights from Ballpark to 9th Street and a storage container at the Service Center, under a resolution listed for discussion and possible action.
The Citizen’s Advisory Board recommended the purchase at its Oct. 22 meeting. The city says the decorations would improve the community’s appearance during the holiday season and support local beautification and holiday spirit. The draft resolution says a vendor indicated the decorations could be delivered in November if ordered by Oct. 28.
The proposal would use the city’s Hotel Tax Fund; it is not a request for a new lodging tax. The $45,000 is a proposed spending cap, not an approved expenditure.
