La Junta’s City Council is scheduled to hold a first reading and consider action Oct. 5 on a proposed 2026 budget amendment that would add $183,400 for 3rd Street Bridge design and two heating and cooling repairs.

Ordinance No. 1705 proposes $105,300 in additional General Fund spending: $78,100 for 3rd Street Bridge design, labeled grant-funded, and $27,200 for a TRANE air-conditioning repair. It would add another $78,100 to the Property Management Fund for a compressor for the OJC Child Development HVAC system.

The ordinance’s General Fund revenue schedule lists $62,500 in miscellaneous grants, a $665,000 transfer from retained earnings and a $622,200 reduction in Rural Fire Revenues. Those adjustments net to the proposed $105,300 increase. The Property Management Fund schedule lists a matching $78,100 transfer from retained earnings. The ordinance does not explain the Rural Fire Revenues adjustment.

The Oct. 5 council agenda schedules the ordinance for first reading and action at a 6 p.m. meeting.
