Otero County’s preliminary 2027 General Fund budget requests $10.97 million in expenses against $8.59 million in revenue, a $2.38 million difference. The figures are proposals, not an adopted budget, the county’s budget packet shows.
The revenue request is $1.44 million higher than the $7.15 million adopted for 2026. Most of that increase is in intergovernmental state grants, which rise from $157,100 to $1.57 million. The 2027 request includes $1.36 million for the Colorado Water Conservation Board’s Ark Valley Conduit as a pass-through. Proposed General Fund tax revenue is unchanged at about $5.06 million.
Requested expenses rise by $2.19 million from the $8.78 million adopted for 2026—more than the increase in requested revenue.
