Washington County commissioners have paused the acceptance, processing and approval of wind-energy development applications in unincorporated areas through Dec. 29, unless the county ends or extends the moratorium sooner. The pause includes applications for special-use and right-of-way permits, Resolution 49-2026 says.

The resolution directs county staff to work with the Planning Commission to analyze and update the wind-energy regulations. The county cited public health, safety and welfare as reasons for the review and said applications filed before it is complete could cause irreparable harm.
