Fort Morgan’s Main Street storm-sewer project is in its final punch-list phase, with intersections open and remaining work focused on striping, repairs, inspections, surveys and paving, a city official told the Aug. 18 City Council meeting.

Most striping was complete, with work remaining near the interstate. The city also identified broken items for repair and still must camera-inspect the underground pipe, provide a video log and complete an as-built survey documenting the installation.

Paving is the main remaining visible work. The contractor was finishing Prospect Street, is expected to pave Ensign Street next and will finish at Gateway, followed by patchwork elsewhere. Some curb and gutter also will need to be rebuilt, the official said.

Officials did not announce a firm completion date. Traffic is expected to remain open during the remaining work, with isolated closures around manholes and similar work locations. The meeting did not provide a dated closure schedule or a complete list of affected intersections.

Earlier phases involved broader closures. A March city notice said the project’s second phase would affect the I-76 ramps and reduce traffic along Main Street between the interstate and Riverview Avenue. The city’s July project update said Main Street and Riverview Avenue had reopened before a temporary intersection closure for manholes and tie-ins.

The city’s public bid materials describe the 2025 Ensign Main Street Storm Sewer Improvements as involving about 2,810 linear feet of 60-inch storm drain, 11 storm manholes and connecting pipe. The public records reviewed for this update did not establish the awarded contract amount, final project cost or the value of post-award change orders. The bid page’s pre-award addenda are not change orders.

The Aug. 18 update also did not include a formal completion or acceptance notice. A final cost and change-order accounting would require the executed contract, amendments or change-order log and final payment records.
