Morgan County commissioners to consider $1.02 million sole-source landfill compactor

Morgan County commissioners are scheduled July 21 to consider waiving competitive bidding and authorizing a sole-source purchase of a TANA H380 landfill compactor priced at $1,020,353.72.
The item is listed on the board’s 9 a.m. agenda for the Assembly Room of the Administration Building in Fort Morgan, with Solid Waste Director Cass Yearous scheduled to present. The county agenda does not show a vote or other final action, so the purchase remains proposed as of July 19.
The purchase agreement names 4 Rivers Equipment LLC as the seller and lists a 2024 Caterpillar 816H trade-in valued at $375,000, leaving a stated amount due of $645,353.72. The agreement is dated July 10 and includes a warranty line of “24 MONTHS 4,000 HOURS.” The county’s board packet does not explain whether the Caterpillar is being replaced because of age, condition, maintenance problems or performance.
